PURE EV, an Indian e-bikes and electric scooters manufacturer, is reportedly set to launch its latest flagship long-range, high speed electric vehicle model ‘Entrance Neo’ on December 1. The EV manufacturer also aims to increase its output to 200,000 units and battery production capacity to 5 GWh from the present production capacities of 20,000 units and 0.5 GWh.
To that end, the EV startup is establishing a 200,000 sq. ft. production plant and commissioning its operations in 2021 to fulfill the estimated growth of the Indian lithium battery and electric vehicle market. The company has already launched five models in the regional EV market so far.
Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, PURE EV, Rohit Vadera stated that Entrance Neo has better aerodynamics for enabling additional enhancements in powertrain efficiency. The EV has a longer range and faster pickup. The model design and build is mainly focused towards youngsters, who would likely find this vehicle very attractive.
Vadera further added that the company is aiming to sell 10,000 units of Entrance Neo within the first year of its launch alone. This new model would be available for purchase In Hyderabad first and then the rest of the country from mid-December.
The new EV model can jump from 0 to 40 kmph in five seconds. When using ‘Eco Mode’, the vehicle’s 2,500 Wh battery provides a 120 km range within one charge. Its chassis is developed for higher speeds on par with traditional (ICE) Internal Combustion Engine two-wheelers.
The EV startup already has a 70,000 square feet factory and boasts of a monthly manufacturing capacity of 2,000 electric vehicles. Likewise, the factory also has a monthly battery production capacity of 10 MWh. In 2019, the EV startup had conducted a funding round where it raised about $35 million.
