LONGi sets world record for silicon solar cell efficiency level at 26.81%

World leader in clean energy transition, LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (LONGi) has recently publicized that its firm has attained a new innovative efficiency of its silicon solar cells.

A recent certification report published by the Institut für Solarenergieforschung in Hameln (ISFH) claims that the firm produced its HJT (heterojunction technology) silicon solar cells at large scale on full-size silicon wafers to a proficiency level of nearly 26.81%, which is a newly recorded proficiency.

During the ceremony, Professor at the University of New South Wales, Australia, Martin Green, who is also recognized as the 'Father of photovoltaics,' announced that 26.81% is presently the world's greatest silicon solar cells efficiency record to date.

Martin mentioned that this extraordinary achievement would be added in the next version of efficiency tables published on the progress made in photovoltaics.

For the uninitiated, this is the newest world record, after a well-known Japanese firm set the efficiency at 26.7% in 2017.

It is worth mentioning that this was the first stint when a Chinese solar technology company made a world record in silicon solar cell efficiency.

Furthermore, LONGi's research and development (R&D) team has been working continuously and has out beaten the HJT solar cell conversion efficacy world record since June 2021. It rose to 26.81% from 25.26%, recognizing the miracle of a 1.55% increase in a year and four months.

The clean energy giant registered a new world record for the conversion of silicon solar cell efficiency in just around a month with 26.74%, 26.78%, and 26.81%, respectively, further showcasing the dedication of LONGi to constantly focus on R&D as well as promoting industrial progress.

For the record, this full-fledged technology, along with the large-size silicon wafers world record, is deemed very unusual in the entire history of photovoltaic technology.
