Leading contractor to U.S. allied and federal governments, Amentum, has reportedly been offered a contract of USD 90 million to bolster the development of PEO IWS 2.0 (Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems Above Water Sensors) and the NSWC Crane (Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division) through systems engineering services.
The company was granted the contract under the Department of Defense Information Analysis Center (DoD IAC)’s MAC (Multiple-Award Contract) vehicle. The task order of DoD IAC MAC is granted by the 774th Enterprise Sourcing Squadron of the U.S. Air Force, to develop and create new insights for the improvement of the R&D, the DTIC repository, and the S&T community.
Jill Bruning, the President of Intelligence, Systems Engineering, Security, Services and Solutions (IS4) strategic business unit of Amentum, apparently stated that the company has been a long-term strategic collaborator to the U.S. Navy. She also stated that the firm is delighted to have this chance to offer R&D support to help accommodate its requirements for electronic warfare and sensor integration.
Bruning added that Amentum is a market leader in systems engineering, known for offering cutting-edge solutions. The company seeks to bring its inventive approaches to PEO IWS 2.0 and widen the company’s support at the NSWC Crane.
Amentum will utilize its newly established digital engineering toolsets and MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) laboratory to include novel materials and technologies, improving the performance of heritage systems through rapid prototyping and technology insertion.
Under this agreement, Amentum will perform development, research, evaluation, and test of emerging tech, processes, and materials to substantially improve the capability of different existing and future systems of above-water sensors.
Amentum’s work will also emphasize the integration of sensor systems into the Ship Self Defense System and Aegis combat system, which includes engineering, research, technology, science, integration, rapid prototyping, ship introduction, development, operational analysis, and platform integration.
The systems and logistics engineering activities of Amentum will help attain the performance objectives required by different product managers, to execute their missions both overseas and in the continental United States.
