Mumbai-based pharma major Lupid Limited has announced that it has received approval from US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market Slidenafil Tablets USP, 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg. Lupin’s Slidenafil is generic version of Viagra Tablets, 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg, produced by Pfizer Inc. As per a press release of Lupin, Sildenafil Tablets are phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor which is used for treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). According to reliable sources, annual sales of Slidenafil Tablets USP, 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg was approximately USD$611 million in the US. For the record, Lupin Limited is a multinational pharmaceutical company based in Mumbai. The company manufactures and sells a wide range of branded and generic formulations, APIs, biotechnology products and Advanced Drug Delivery Systems (ADDS) globally. Key focus areas of company include cardiovascular, pediatrics, anti-infectives, asthma, nervous system, anti-tuberculosis, gastro-intestinal, and diabetology. Major markets of the company include India, United States of America, Europe, Japan, Australia, South Africa, and Philippines.
