Nestlé expands plant-based product range with mince & next-gen burger

Leading food & beverage company Nestlé has reportedly announced the expansion of its vegan food product range with the new Garden Gourmet Incredible Mince and an improved “meatier” version of the Garden Gourmet Incredible Burger, both part of the “cook from raw” platform.

This announcement comes at a time when consumers are seeking more diverse ways to control their protein intake while simultaneously moving away from meat products and lowering the environmental impact of their diets.

It is also a part of the company’s plan to aim the business towards high-growth categories and adapt to shifts in market conditions while maintaining its commitment towards providing nutritious and healthy food products.

Like the Garden Gourmet Incredible Burger, the mince, which is plant based, looks and feels like raw beef. It is made from a blend of soy proteins, natural extracts from plants including beetroot, carrots, bell peppers and vegetable fats. According to Nestlé, the mince is as versatile and easy to shape as its meat counterpart and can be used in numerous ways like creating balls or skewers or even crumbled up to make dishes like Bolognese or Chili Con Carne.

Speaking about the announcement, Wayne England, Head of Nestlé’s food business expressed his delight at the positive response towards the Garden Gourmet Incredible Burger and stated that that customers’ feedback suggesting more juiciness, stronger beef flavor and meatier texture has been used to create a brand new recipe for the burger.

Mr. England also announced the launch of the next-generation product, the Garden Gourmet Incredible Mince, as an extension to the “cook from raw” platform.

The “cook from raw” range is just part of Nestlé’s journey towards a more plant-based product range catering to an increasingly environment-conscious customer base. In addition to meat substitutes, Garden Gourmet will also expand its vegetable product range including patties, balls and bakes containing assorted cheeses, vegetable bits, pulses and grains.

Garden Gourmet Incredible Mince will be made available in several European countries including Belgium, Austria, Germany, Norway and Sweden starting September.
