- OPTOLANE has selected Trustonic Secured Platform to secure its medical device
- Connected services like in vitro diagnostics have been receiving consistent investments
Trustonic, a leading provider of device and application security, recently announced that OPTOLANE has chosen Trustonic Secured Platform (TSP) to introduce trust and security to its new connected medical diagnostic device. The new device is essentially used at point-of-care for both early diagnosis as well as preventative healthcare, especially diagnosing infectious diseases, congenital abnormalities and cancer.
Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting healthcare devices owing to their critical nature as they are valuable intellectual property and collect and store sensitive personal information. According to research, about 8.2 cyberattacks were attempted on every connected healthcare endpoint in every month in 2018.
OPTOLANE’s new product has been based on system on chip (SoC) platform of Nexell that mainly integrates Trustonic’s Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) to ensure privacy, high performance and security. In vitro diagnostic (IVD) platform of OPTOLANE, also known as LOAA (Lab on an Array) Analyzer, primarily analyzes tissue and blood samples for several targets that also include RNA, metabolites, DNA and proteins, in real-time.
Trustonic’s CEO, Ben Cade stated that connected healthcare has been receiving increased investments and IVD happens to an important segment within the global diagnostics industry. Such solutions keep adding major value to treatment and diagnosis that helps in improving the well-being of the general public while also accelerating productivity and reducing costs.
OPTOLANE’s CEO, Do Young Lee commented that there has been a clear demand for innovative and new diagnostics solutions that move from ‘sample-to-answer’ in real-time. The company fully understands its responsibility to be able to protect all the patient data. It needed to develop security foundation that was hardware-backed and could deliver connectivity while keeping the collected sensitive personal data protected.
Trustonic’s experience in protecting wearables, IoT hardware and smartphones as well as securing major mobile applications in both automotive and financial sectors is a guarantee that the devices and the collected patient data are safe, Do Young added.
