Even though it started with China, the effects of coronavirus can now be seen on a global scale. While numerous countries are trying to contain the spread of the disease, cases of coronavirus infection are seen to have escalated over 1,000 in the United States. This further indicates that the virus has now successfully covered a major section of the economic powerhouse, as it spreads across both the center and coasts of the U.S.
Reportedly, the first known coronavirus case was seen in Washington on January 21. Just after six weeks, the total of cases had gone up to 70, most of them being reported from overseas traveler. However, since then these cases have roller-coasted over hundreds, eventually crossing the thousand mark.
Among these cases, a majority of them were recorded in California, New York and Washington, following which these areas have implemented various precautionary methods like closing businesses, shutting colleges and suggesting people to avoid crowds.
Meanwhile, Californias Sacramento County has decided to call off automatic 14-day quarantines that were prior executed for the coronavirus. The county is now planning to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. For the record, Sacramento County has amassed almost 10 cases of coronavirus cases, which includes one person who is showing signs of recovery.
Evidently, this announcement indicates that the county is failing to effectively manage quarantines while its health system handles the cases of coronavirus. Moreover, it even highlights the incompetence of the U.S. governments coronavirus testing initiative.
Sources cite that officials have advised people of Sacramento County to go into isolation only if they show any signs or symptoms of the disease, instead of quarantining themselves upon being exposed to COVID-19.
Sacramentos newly announced policy is similar to that used by King County, Washington, which as of now has around 116 cases of coronavirus and 20 deaths.
