Wipro Lighting has reportedly launched a smart office technology software, Office Shifts, in collaboration with a Netherlands-based company, Mapiq.
This technology software has been developed to enhance the flexibility and utilization of office spaces by employees in the post-COVID-19 world. The software can be upgraded and scaled as per the policy changes made by the organizations due to the directives from the local government.
According to Anuj Dhir, Wipro Lighting’s Vice President, the recently launched software will find widespread adoption as it ensures the productivity and safety of the employees. Various organizations across the globe are updating their policies and making fundamental changes about the operation in the large office complexes, keeping the employees’ security and safety as the main priority. Sanitizing, restrictions on gatherings and meetings, and social distancing have given rise to the need for a new and efficient mode of functioning for employees, which the company believes can be fulfilled by the Office Shift technology from Mapiq.
Due to the implementation of social distancing guidelines in most offices, the availability of workspaces and desks are expected to be decreased by nearly 43%. This implies that only half of the employees will be able to attend the office. In order to efficiently enable this new workflow, organizations must align the working patterns and schedules of employees & their teams.
In addition to conforming to the social distancing norms, there have been concerns regarding the safety and productivity of the employees at the office setting. These rising concerns include which office areas to access, how to conduct meetings in offices, and the means to ensure a safe working environment. Amid all these turbulent situations, keeping the employees informed in real-time and ensuring the appropriate distancing of employees consistently in the office is crucial.
As per the statement made by Ramakrishna Puranam, Wipro’s senior general manager of sales, the new technology software, built on Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), is made available in a subscription-based model, which can be paid on a per year, per month, or building basis.
