Linde announces signing a MoU with China’s Baowu Clean Energy

Linde plc, one of the leading industrial gas companies, has reportedly inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Baowu Clean Energy Ltd. to collaborate on R&D and develop China’s hydrogen market for mobility as well as industrial applications.

With this move, both the companies will join forces to increase the accessibility of hydrogen to industries and advance hydrogen mobility solutions acceptance in China. The two companies would also explore the option to invest in liquid hydrogen infrastructure and plants.

Speaking on the collaboration, Sanjiv Lamba, CEO and EVP APAC, Linde, said that that the company is delighted to collaborate with Baowu Group to fuel the development of hydrogen solutions and infrastructure for industrial as well as mobility applications.

He said that, with the company’s technology leadership in hydrogen, Linde would be the strategic partner for Baowu Group, and together they would work to make hydrogen accessible for users across China.

As per Mr. Guo Bin, Deputy GM, Baowu Steel Group, this collaboration with Linde marked a vital new millstone in its successful and long partnership. With Linde’s technological expertise in hydrogen, both companies would work towards a transition to a cleaner low-carbon future for China.

Linde is associated with China Hydrogen Alliance and global Hydrogen Council which aims to meet climate goals with hydrogen solutions. This collaboration follows Lindes recent JV with ITM Power and highlights its continued efforts to deliver sustainable solutions for a transition towards clean energy.

For a record, Baowu Clean Energy is a unit of Baowu Steel Group, one of the leading steel manufacturers in the world. With the vision to implement Group’s cleaner energy vision, the company would focus on building the hydrogen ecosystem in China, from development and storage to the distribution of mobility and infrastructure concepts.
