FORM launches Swim Goggles powered with augmented reality display

FORM, a Canada based sports technology company recently announced the launch of FORM Swim Goggles which are a pair of augmented reality enabled swim goggles that can help competitive swimmers view their performance metrics in real time. According to sources, FORM Swim Goggles had been developed in collaboration with former Olympians along with other successful competitive swimmers and coaches. The FORM Swim Goggles are designed to make training sessions more engaging, purposeful and smarter for swimmers of all levels. For the record, land based competitive sports like running, cycling and multisport race trainings have been transformed due to the availability of a wide array of devices like running watches and bike computers that provide access to performance metrics in real time. Even though there are nearly 30 million pool swimmers in the U.S. alone, swimmers till date did not have access to wearables that could improve technique or provide information in real time. FORM Swim Goggles is reportedly designed to address swimmer issues. Dan Eisenhardt, FORM founder and CEO, was quoted saying that the idea of the AR enabled swimming goggles came to FORM many years ago but only recently the technology has become available to incorporate this experience seamlessly in a pair of swim goggles. Three of the key components of the FORM Swim Goggles are an augmented-reality display, a miniaturized onboard computer and a premium swim goggles design. FORM would also be launching the FORM Swim App for Android™ and iPhone® that is an app to help coaches and swimmers share and review workouts recorded by the FORM Swim Goggles. The app also tracks progress over time. FORM Swim App enables swimmers to decide what metrics they want to see on the goggles. Director of Strategic Partnerships at FORM, Scott Dickens, reportedly said that the real time metrics being reflected in the goggles can prove to be an absolute game changer for even amateur swimmers as it can make swimming a more engaging activity and make them compete with themselves.
