Canon Medical, a medical equipment company, has reportedly introduced its ground-breaking PIQE (Precise IQ Engine) DLR and SilverBeam filter in the latest version of its Aquilion ONE / PRISM edition. The company has been offering a range of medical imaging and diagnostic solutions, such as CT, ultrasound, X-ray, MR, and vascular, and a full suite of Healthcare IT solutions globally.

PIQE, which is a deep-learning super-resolution reconstruction technology, provides cardiac CT scans in exceptional image quality by maximizing spatial resolution without increasing dose or reducing low-contrast detectability. On the other hand, SilverBeam, which is an X-ray beam shaping the energy filter, offers high-quality CT screening images for lung cancer and low noise at a radiation dose close to a typical chest X-ray.

Notably, the Aquilion ONE / PRISM edition integrates AI (artificial intelligence) technology, powered by Canon Medical’s new AI brand, Altivity, on a wide-area CT platform. This integration was geared towards maximizing automated workflows while offering deep clinical insights to help physicians make informed decisions in the patient care cycle. This end-to-end workflow can make it easier for clinicians, as it is easy to use and can also be incorporated into routine protocols.

As per the statement made by Hisashi Tachizaki, Canon Medical Systems Corporation’s VP and General Manager of CT systems Division, the company has boosted the level of deep intelligence for the Aquilion ONE / PRISM Edition with the introduction of PIQE. It has also been significantly pushing growth by leveraging AI. With PIQE, it will be able to further reveal key diagnostic information for cardiac CT scans, while SilverBeam will allow ultra-low-dose screening of CT lung cancer.

For the record, the medical equipment firm is planning to showcase the Aquilion ONE / PRISM Edition with SilverBeam and PIQE at the virtual RSNA (Radiology Society of North America) 2021.
